Medusa Project. The Set-up

The Medusa Project: The Set-Up by Sophie McKenzie. PubSimon &Schuster, 2009.

Fans of Robert Muchamore‘s Cherub series and Mark Walden’s H.I.V.E. series now have something else to read. Sophie McKenzie has started The Medusa Project which promises the same sort of action adventure and Science fiction except this time there are more relationship issues.

Fourteen years earlier a scientist implanted two girls and two boys with the Medusa gene – a gene for psychic abilities. Nico is the first one to experience these telekinetic abilities and is warned by a knowing stepfather not to abuse them. Nico can’t stop himself but as he learns to control and refine his abilities he develops a relationship with the three other Medusa babies and the 4 of them get involved in some action and are welded into a super team.

This first book just sets it up for no doubt several books to come.

Sophie McKenzie is a good story teller but her real skill is her characterisation of the teenage voice with the dialogue being particularly believable.

Intermediate ans Secondary students will love these.
