colossusSeven Wonders Part 1: The Colossus Rises by Peter Lerangis. Pub. HarperCollins, 2013.

If you loved the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, then you are going to love these. Once again the world of Ancient Greece is the battle ground and the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World hold the key. In this book it is the Colossus of Rhodes.

Less than 0.0001% of children are born with the genetic code G7W. It is a super hero code that emerges when the child is 13 years and starts with a white A shaped hair symbol at the back of the head.

Jack knows he has it but doesn’t know what it means. Then he is injected by a red bearded man and wakes up in a hospital on an island that was the remaining part of Atlantis. He has been operated on by Dr Bhegad who tells him that to stay alive he and three others, Aly, Cass and Marco must locate the lost elements of Atlantis’s power and return them to the island. Their lives depend on it. But what else is it for?

Gripping stuff with the tongue firmly in the cheek. Plenty of action for pre teen and early teens.
