Toucan canToucan Can by Juliette MacIver Illus. Sarah Davis. Pub. Gecko Press, 2013.

Toucan can so you can but can Toucan do what you can? Well read this new picture book from Gecko and find out.

Toucan is an amazing bird. he can to the cancan while juggling a frying pan and is just the best dancer there is. Toucan invites you to dance with him and his wacky friends that include two panthers, a kangaroo and a panda.

The key to the written text is the rhyming language that a good story teller will be able to tell with some alacrity. And so will you.

The illustrations compliment the written text like a hand in a glove. They are zany and they move like a dance, inviting the reader to join in the dance. The colours enhance the appeaL and there is plenty of space and action on each page to enthrall the young reader.

The kangaroo doing kung fu with the toucan is my favourite illustration. Can you do kung fu with toucan?

This has a place in school libraries and in the home for pre school and juniors.
